02.19.2015, 18:30 “Revitalization of Kyiv velodrome: ideas and ways for project architectural implementation”
The group of initiative Kyivans together with cycling veterans has been struggling for many years. They’re after returning the famous Kyiv velodrome on Bohdana Khmelnytskoho St. back to the city and it’s further revitalization. The activists’ goal is renovated velodrome as the center for cycling culture in Kyiv, a place where one can do not only professional training but also amateurs and those who seek for leisure could feel equally welcomed.
What could be the future of the velodrome in Kyiv? Whom should it work for? What is the roe of architects in the city’s oldest sport structure renovation?
We’d like to welcome everybody for a productive discussion. We believe that ideas raised will lay into the base of prospective design competition for this project.
Volodymyr Melnyk, lawyer, public activist for Kyiv velodrome renovation, curator of Extrene Factory, a youth sport organization. Together with his colleagues, designers Oleksandr Karpinskyi and Olha Saburova he will tell about what’s done, what results are here today, what were the constrains and what are the plans.
