11.06.2014, 18:30 Pedestrian Khreshchatyk
This time our weekly Thursday within CANactions (www.canactions.com) festival will be dedicated to discussion of the Pedestrian Khreshchatyk initiative. The participants are public activists, experts and city administration representatives.
For more than 8 months the main street in the city haven’t been working as a transit path for automobiles. People have got used to see it as a public space, where various events take place, including recent Revolution of Dignity. The public as well as the city officials take Khreshchatyk closure seriously this time. At the same time a number of bottom-up initiatives were established and raised a huge discussion in mass media and social network. Will this cause an improvement of public realm in the center Kyiv? What implementation plant should be?
A conference with the workshop regarding this issue took place in October 21. It brought activists, experts and stakeholders together. The intermediate results of this event will be presented and discussed within interdisciplinary team where everybody will have a chance learn to comment on the future of the central street in Kyiv
