Anja Meyer / dazwischen
Verena Huber and Anja Meyer are together with Claudia Cattaneo and Roland Züger members of the project “in-between -from the apartment door to the edge of the sidewalk”.
The project hopes to contribute to discussions about the densification of the residential environment within urban contexts with specific reference to Zürich. In contemporary planning, plans and façades are accorded much weight. But how are in-between spaces planned, perceived, and utilized? What facilitates or obstructs them?
The project strives to strengthen our perceptions of the in-between, to sensitize us to options for use and spatial elements, to call attention to the invisible and visible thresholds and barriers that subdivide space between private and public.
The project promotes the exploration of zones that cannot be classified unequivocally either as private or as public. Such zones harbor the potential for collective utilizations. It is thuscatalyst and stimulus to action.
Anja Meyer (1977), studied at the Schule für Gestaltung in Zürich, also studied architecture at the ETH Zürich in1998-2004. She worked in Chur, Glasgow, and Zürich, and has had an architecture practice jointly with Judith Gessler since 2006, and as the collective AMJGS since 2012. She is a member of the managing board of the Zürich chapter of the Swiss Werkbund (SWB), and hence a member of the governing board.
